Democracy

We launched our first program around increasing our communities' access to democracy in 2020 with the Defending Democracy Program. This program will increase the engagement of members of the poor and working class in elections in Washington and Greene Counties. Through this work, our communities can protect our voting rights and ensure our elected officials are being held accountable to the issues that matter to our members.

Our Democracy Work

All of our campaigns have begun by community members bringing an issue to our attention and working with them to build a strategic plan to stop impacts onto people and the environment.

Civic Engagement

Through our civic engagement work, we encourage people to register to vote and provide information on where and how they can vote on election days. We also share educational resources on the vote-by-mail process and where people's polling places are located.

Voter Education

In order to educate voters, we ask all candidates running for public office in the communities that we serve about their proposed policies to increase environmental, climate, and economic justice in Washington and Greene Counties. Generally, candidates are sent questionnaires or asked about their proposed policies at public forums.
