We want to welcome our two summer organizing interns: Sarah Grguras and Christopher Thomas. Sarah and Christopher are excited to meet everyone and begin working with our members and supporters, so please say hello when you see them in the community!
Christopher Thomas is a rising sophomore at the University of Akron. He is majoring in Civil Engineering with a focus on Environmental Engineering. He is an outdoor enthusiast and loves to hike, fish, kayak, and camp. He shoots competitive rifle across the United States and is active with the Geo Club at the University of Akron, as well as the rifle club. When he is not working with us at CCJ, he works in construction and mows lawns. After graduation, he hopes to help transition the United States energy sector to using only renewable, clean energy to help conserve and protect our natural resources and to provide a better future to the generations to come.
Sarah Grguras and grew up in Wexford, PA (just north of the city of Pittsburgh) and is also a rising sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh. She plans to double major in Biology and Environmental Science. Sarah is active in a couple of environmental organizations in Pittsburgh, and is excited to further her interest in working with environmental justice communities at CCJ. This summer, she hopes to develop and implement organizing skills while working with directly with impacted communities. Sarah is also excited to learn more about the issues that are affecting the region where she lives.
