Harm Reduction, Treatment, and Recovery
We launched our Harm Reduction campaign as part of our economic justice work in 2021 in response to the opioid crisis that has taken too many lives, impacted too many families, and taken a significant toll on our economy. The stigma surrounding this issue has led to individuals with a substance use disorder (SUD) having dehumanizing labels placed on them and being treated unfairly by the systems that are supposed to motivate and support them on their road to recovery. It is time for our communities to work with those in power to explore more effective ways we can help to decrease the amount of overdoses and overdose fatalities by expanding the range of harm reduction resources and strategies that are available within our communities.
