Hydrogen, Pore Space, and Carbon Capture

Two of the seven hydrogen hubs in development across the U.S. are partially located in Pennsylvania, and will mostly produce blue hydrogen, fueled by methane gas from fracking in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio. These projects, funded by over $1.6 billion in federal subsidies and up to $1 billion in Pennsylvania tax credits, will lock our region into decades of new fracking, pipelines, storage, and additional infrastructure, instead of accelerating our transition to a clean energy future, and will require costly, unproven technology like carbon capture and storage.
